Soul Rabbit was founded in 2002 by the Colorado native songwriting duo of Bret Sloan and Jon Von Funk. Through years of playing and performing together their musical ideas and philosophies coalesced into to the resounding musical mandala called Rastabilly.
“What is Rastabilly” you ask?
There is no quick answer. Rastabilly is roots, rock, reggae, funk, soul, rhythm, and blues. It’s swamp jug back porch guitar picking washboard funk slap hambone. It’s black white brown purple pink and blueberry. It smells like aged gruyere, tastes like jerk chicken, biscuits and gravy and goes down like fine bathtub hooch.
It’s damn fine music that’s been brewing in this melting pot of Americana for a long time. So cram it into your brain through your ear holes.
You won’t regret it.

New Release:
Long In The Tooth

“Long in the Tooth,” the first new studio album in 10 years from Soul Rabbit was released October 12th, 2021
Started during the long COVID winter in 2020 and completed in the summer of 2021, the L.I.T.T. album is comprised entirely of new recordings of old songs written by Bret and Jon in the early 90s when they first met on the bus to Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, CO.
The title “Long in the Tooth” refers to both the length of the incisors of our long eared rodent namesake and to the growing colony of gray hairs invading the chin whiskers of the Soul Rabbit boys.
Gray hairs for gray hares, but the music is as fresh as ever.
